Exhibition Spotlight – Must See

Now we know that it’s not just making art that is good for our hearts – looking at art promotes wellbeing too.

Here are two ‘must-see’ exhibitions for 2026. Let me introduce these two artists – David Hockney and John Ruskin. I periodically reference contemporary Yorkshire artist Hockney when encouraging my students to think about colour in their work, and I often take courage from Ruskin when a painting requires me to put the work in (going back to basics to use my observation skills to truly understand the curl of a leaf or see the colours in the sky).

Ruskin was an English Victorian polymath: an artist, art critic, activist, writer and more.

Both of these exhibitions, I am sure, will bring much inspiration and revelation to you, as they do to me…

John Ruskin created this collection of art and artefacts with the hope that it would inspire us all to discover and engage in the world’s extraordinary splendour.
